Police Officer Job OpeningsAll applicants that met the application deadline will be notified by mail of the examination process to be held on January 18, 2008 at the Waverly Civic Center. Registration will begin at 9:00 a.m. All applicants are required to show photo identification in order to partake in the process. If you are a veteran and want the veteran's preference points allowed under the State Code of Iowa, you must bring your proof of service (DD 214 or Discharge Certificate).
All applicants must take the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy (I.L.E.A.) approved physical agility test and score within the given boundaries for age and gender. Applicants should be prepared to run outdoors if weather permits. This test is scheduled to begin at 9:15 a.m.
All applicants that do not have a current score will be required to take the I.L.E.A. approved Police Officer Selection Test (POST) and score a minimum of 70% on each phase of the exam. If desired, applicants that have a P.O.S.T. score on file will be allowed to retake the exam. The higher score will be utilized by the Waverly Police Department. This phase will begin at 10:30 a.m.
All applicants that pass the physical agility and P.O.S.T. exam will partake in a short interview with the Chief of Police or one of the Division Commanders.
