PLANNING & ZONING  -  General Info

The current building codes that the city of Waverly has adopted are the 2006 editions of the International Building code, International Residential code, International Plumbing code, International Mechanical code.

Welcome to the City of Waverly's Planning & Zoning Division. The Community Development and Zoning Official reviews and enforces zoning and floodplain development regulations; reviews zoning and subdivision requests; and performs municipal code enforcement. 

The Community Development and Zoning Official also provides the following services:

  • Help determine zoning classification for parcels within City limits
  • Assist in limited ways to understand property dimensions
  • Issue Home Occupation Permits
  • Issue Open Burning Permits
  • Review site plans for proposed building construction
  • Issue Sign Permits
  • Offer flood plain assistance in determining applicable zones and standards
  • Respond to nuisances
  • Assist in reviewing options for development of property

The Community Development and Zoning Official also conducts the Planning and Zoning Commission and the Board of Adjustment meetings.
