Placing items on hold

To reserve an item for you from the Waverly Public Library online catalog, you must place a "hold" on the item. To do this you will need to have a current library card in good standing.  You will need to know your PIN.  If the item is available at the time of the hold, you will need to come to the library and simply find the item and check the item out.  You could email a request to pull the item and have it on hold for you at the circulation desk. If the item is checked out, your "hold" will reserve a copy of the item for you when it becomes available.

1. Connect to the Waverly Public Library's web site at http://catalog.waverly.lib.ia.us/
2. Click on the iBistro logo.
3. Search the catalog and select the item that interests you from your results.
4. Place the hold from the Full Details screen. You will know you are at the right place if you see a little white glove labeled Hold. The white glove may be in the center blue box or the right-hand blue box depending on whether there are already holds on the item.
5. Click on the white glove.
6. Enter your library card number and PIN number as requested.
7. If the copies are different, for example a 1999 Fodor's travel guide and a 2000 edition, you may be able to select which you would like or take the first available.
8. Click on Place Hold.
9. The system will come back with a message about whether it could place the hold or not. Some materials, such as reference items, cannot be placed on hold. Click on OK.
10. Please contact a staff member if you have any problems.
11. You will receive a telephone call or letter notifying you when the material is available for your pick up.  You will be told how long the materials will be held for your pickup.  You may pickup inside or through the drive-up check-out.

Renewing your items

1. Items may be renewed through the online catalog. Items may be renewed once if there are no holds on the items. If items are overdue, they may be renewed once if there are no holds however overdue charges will be added to your account.  For more assistance, please call the Library at 319-352-1223.
