Welcome to the Waverly Volunteer Fire DepartmentWe invite you to take a moment and learn a little bit about how we help you and how you can help us. Department Profile The Waverly Volunteer Fire Department proudly serves Waverly and the surrounding areas with fire protection coverage. We also respond to emergency calls for river rescues, automobile accidents and such, wherever and whenever we are called out to assist. Our organization consists at any time of between 30-40 citizens of the city of Waverly who are all volunteers dedicated to protecting the community through public service. Members of the department are also members of the Iowa Fireman's Association and many are Nationally and State Certified to minimum standards as firefighters. We meet twice a month to train and conduct department business. We are your neighbors and your co-workers. New Fire Department Under Construction
We have a museum next to the station that is available for tours by appointment. Please call the station at 352-5521 and leave a message to arrange for your free tour. Several pieces of antique fire apparatus and vehicles are on display. Open year-round. Front of Museum
How You Can Help Please be courteous and pull over to the side of the road whenever you see any emergency vehicle approaching you from the front or the rear. Also be aware that we must first drive our personal vehicles to the fire station to respond to emergencies. Many of us have flashing blue lights that we use to identify us as firemen responding to a call. Some of us just use our car flashers as a signal. Either way, we appreciate your willingness to pull to the side and let us by when you see the flashing blue light or car flashers on. Firemen visit Eisenach, Germany Five members and their spouses visited Waverly's sister city, Eisenach, Germany recently. While there they stayed with Eisenach volunteer fireman and visited the Eisenach, Gotha, and Marburg fire stations as well as the Thuringa State Fire School. Below are some pictures of the visit and the beautiful country in and around Eisenach. Send mail to teachtsd@yahoo.com with questions or comments about this web site. |
